Current Projects

I currently work on a number of projects in the Sovereign AI and Genomics spaces. For more details, reach out on LinkedIn.

Earth Friendly Computing

Earth Friendly Computing is a collective of thinkers concerned about the energy usage of data centers in the AI boom thinking about radical new ways to raise awareness, build new systems of computing, and alter the course of modern computing.

The Data Terrarium

The Data Terrarium was the first EFC prototype for a self-contained, self-sufficient AI processing node at the edge. The system was constructed and powered entirely using solar power and off the shelf parts. It now resides at the UCSD Indigenous Futurism Lab in the UCSD Design Center. The Data Terrarium won a California CARES Grant from the UC System.

EFC574: Sovereign AI for all North American Indigenous Nations (Collaborator)

EFC574 aims to implement the technology needed to give all 574 Indigenous Nations in North America the hardware, software, and knowledge capacity for independent sovereign AI.

EFC Data Center Planner: Data-Driven Data Center Planning (Collaborator)

The EFC Data Center Planner is under active development by others; more details will be available soon.

Polynesian Health Futures and Genomic Legacies (Seeking Funding, Co-PI)

With the support of the French Polynesian Government and in collaboration with French Polynesian researchers and leadership, we have proposed a five-platform study:

  • Development of local biobanking, sequencing and analysis capacity in French Polynesia
  • Creation of a Polynesian Genome Reference
  • Survey and Analysis of Radiation-Associated Cancers
  • Transgenerational Inheritance of Radiation-Induced Mutations
  • Impacts of radiation on Ma'ohi Nui Women

We are currently seeking roughly twenty-million dollars in funding for Phase I of five; all five phases are expected to be completed by 2030, with a majority completed by 2028.

Knowing the Radioactive Currents (Seeking Funding)

Knowing the Radioactive Currents proposes to use spatial thinking to shed light on the current environmental radiation levels in French Polynesia and to build local capacity for radiation assessment. We are currently seeking funding for rollout in September 2025.

Moana Data Center (Seeking Partnerships)

The Moana Data Center will use wave power and salt water air conditioning (SWAC) to provide state-of-the-art AI training and inference capabilities in the Pacific. We are seeking partnerships to begin design and buildout.

Long Cut House Data Center

The Long Cut House Data Center is a technology demonstrator for a new family of Earth-Friendly modular inference-focused data centers. We expect Phase I of the LHC-DC to go live in late 2026.
